This complete new line of whistles has a carbon body. It makes them extremely strong and stiff; as a result they sound rich and full, but also nice and loud. Our Artist Carbon Whistles make use of our own 3D printed head, and it also tuneable by retracting it (-12 ct) or pushing it slightly inward (+12ct). We also can create an Alto type Whistle for keys of F, G en A. Tone holes are created with our computerised CNC, which results in very accurate intonation. Last but not least, you can also choose to add a soft case to your order.

Please note: This is the single Q-mass screw, replacing the harp screw on your tenon. Please order the Q-mass DUO if you want to order a set of two Q-mass's. As sound travels through solid objects, it's causing it to resonate. Yes, sound does travel trhough solid objects. Your saxophone body contributes to the sound, believe it or not. In fact, sound travels about 14x faster though brass than through air. While the concept of the Q-mass may not be new, it is an innovation in the sense that it passes along the vibrations that originate in the neck, to the body by adding weight to the screw that holds the tenon into the body. The existing link between body and tenon is far from ideal in most cases; in fact any connection may impair the transmission of vibrations that contribute to sound. If this is a weak spot, your sound will be affected in a negative way. The oscillating air column in the instrument body may be impaired, too (we haven't be able to prove this, though). The connection between neck and body is enhanced by the Q-mass and aims to eliminate these negative effects. You could also apply the Q-mass on the body-to-bow section (contact us as we can provide you with the best solutions based on your brand). Sure, we also had doubts about adding weight to a screw on a ring that embraces the tenon of the saxophone neck. However, after a year of testing and development we've decided to bring the Q-mass to market, making it available for saxophone and trumpet. Musicians that have tested the Q-mass are thrilled and have made it part of their go-to setup. The Q-mass may appear to be simple, but can make a world of difference once in place! The carbon material feels pleasantly warm to the touch, because unlike brass it has very low heat conductivity and does not take heat from your hand. The air column in the instrument behaves in similar fashion, remaining almost at breath temperature regardless of the ambient temperature where you play and regardless of the instrument’s temperature. This reduces the need to re-tune after you have been playing for a while, and also reduces condensation build-up inside the instrument.

The alto whistle is available in the keys: F, G, A, Bb and B. This is also a tunable whistle and available in Aluminium or Carbon. All of our Artist-Series whistles are designed to be used as session-whistles. Every whistle is handmade in our workshop and finetuned by hand.
